That's what I've always thought.

That's why I never liked the sign-in boxes at the federally run hunting areas around the reservoirs and such. You're supposed to sign in with your name and county and the species hunted, and take a card that is to remain with you during your stay on the property.
Of course this leaves your name and county on the book to be copied or stolen by anyone "shopping" for a productive list of gun-owner addresses. Your actual address is not required, but a simple check of the phone book in your listed county will narrow down the possibilities considerably, especially if your last name is sort of unusual.
I was chatting with the local fed property manager once and the subject of the sign-in sheets came up. I asked him if he had noticed several names that seemed unlikely, like Donald Duck or Mickey Mouse, appearing on the lists. He said he had, and couldn't figure out why someone would be reluctant to sign in with their real name. So I told him. He seemed very understanding and appreciative of the information that time. The same conversation happened again a few years later, about the same sheets, and he was equally surprised and appreciative of the insight that time, too. Remarked both times that he'd never heard that explanation before. Hmmm..... friendly chap, but I don't expect the situation to improve.
I also brought up the fact (on both occasions) that even though the areas are open to wilderness camping and hunting, the card specifically state that they are to be used only for the day when they are signed, and are not to be pre-dated. That regulation, if followed, would require that anyone camping back in the boonies would have to hike or paddle out to the nearest sign-in box about midnight and pick up the fresh card and sign in again. He tried to be helpful, but his only solution was to ignore that part of the regulations and go ahead and take enough cards for the intended stay, and fill them out as needed, even though that procedure is specifically prohibited in the instructions.
Folks in charge are there to come up with rules, and all the good or necessary ones were used up long ago, so the ones they make now are pretty much silly.

CHEVY: you got that right, no need for people to know what I may or may not have in my vehicle. If I was to put any decals on my vehicle it would be the company paying me to advertise not me paying them.
