the good-beautiful snow with nice cold temps to help get em moving, the bad-only seeing 3 does right at the end of the hunt, the ugly- having the biggest doe broadside at 30 yds only to have your cap pop and no hollow point come out. Had tape over the end of the barrel and the hole was clean, guess I was lucky enough to pick the one bad cap in a box of 50

That's just not fair! I saw zip, however that spot has been better in the afternoons since gun season for some reason.

The one buck that I have mounted was kind enough to stand there for me while I worked on getting more than just a "Pop!" Of course I was just at edge of a hill and he was just in sight when I stood up, took three caps and finally taking the nipple off to add a little FFF before I finally got a "BOOM!" By that point in time he had his head behind a tree so he couldn't see what was coming. I think the doe he was with was even more surprised ;D ;D Sometimes persistance really does pay off!

I feel your pain on the mis-fire....my original T/C muzzy was awful with it. There was more than once, I threatened to throw the darn thing in the woods and leave it there.

dadfsr that is something I would have enjoyed watching . Not that many people think to carry a nipple wrench. It was a bit of a challange keeping my primeing powder dry this morning.

I still carry mine. A place for everything and everything in it's place. No searching pockets or leaving something home. Probably the original K.I.S.S. system.

I had high hopes for this morning myself, I didnt see a deer. I had a capp snap last year when I was gettin ready to shoot a doe. The powder wasnt wet, it was the nipple being clogged from a shot taken earlier in the morning. I carry my nipple wrench now and check everything before the next shot. Ive been there too.

Ah well. Sorry to hear that.
I think, for me, it is time (regretfully having to admit to failing body parts) the iron sight shooting is a thing of the past.
Tonight was perfect in every way.
50 yards broadside a 20-21 inch wide nine or ten point stopped before jumping the fence after coming EXACTLY where I thought deer would come..........and I missed him clean with a gun Ive depended on for 27 years with this year being it's only misses in my memory.
Same buck I missed with a bow too I believe but also believe he is being dragged out tonight. As I followed his tracks even though I saw no hair or blood...........BOOM! 200 yards west (where he was heading) made me turn and go home.
A good season, lots of fun but so very disappointed in my capabilities this year. Time to upgrade and grab a few crutches to carry me onward in the field. (no offense to those using all they can buy......just hasnt been my way.)
Was a beautiful night in the woods, none-the-less and I saw about 30-35 deer driving the 10 miles home, that were out feeding.
Going to borrow a knight from a friend for tomorrow am but........my odds (IMHO) are pretty low for a repeat so, ah..........what was the phrase? CRAP happens? LOL
God Bless Steve

Are you guys snapping a cap before you load? Always want to snap atleast 1. It gets any moisture out of your flash chamber.

I heard a few shots in my vicinity. One went BANG - five second pause - BANG. I didn't know someone could reload a muzzy that quickly.

I saw zip this morning, and this evening. Other than being a beautiful day to be out, it was VERY disappointing. I only heard one shot between this morning and this evening.
I had a hang fire last year on doe, she jumped back about ten feet behind some scrub and let me reload. After about 10 minutes, she stepped out into the lane again, and went home in he bed of my truck. When I was dressing her out, I found the first round grazed her nose. I always pop a cap before I load the smokepole now.

I saw 5 doe today. I had 3 doe within 50 yards and I shot at the biggest one. I have a Knight Disc magnum and I didn't have the rear screw out safety far enough out and it just clicked. The doe ran straight to me to about 20 yards and I cocked the gun again and it just stared at me straight on. The only shot I had was at it's head and it looked at me for a second and ran. All I could do was just laugh because the deer looked so shocked to see me that close. It was an awesome day with snow everywhere... Looking forward to tomorrow. Good luck everyone.....

I didn't know someone could reload a muzzy that quickly. Double muzzleloading rifle? A hunter carrying two Muzzleloaders? Muzzleloading rifle and pistol? Double barrel muzzleloading shotgun with slugs? A kid and their dad hunting in a buddy stand? Etc., etc., etc... Think positive! ;d

Saw nothing, no shots this morning. There was a nice new set of tracks when I came in; right where I told my wife I hadn't been seeing any lately - shows you what I know.

damn it got worse today, couldnt hunt as long as I wanted to so I got out of my stand around 10:30 after seeing no deer. I decided I wanted to slip through this gnarly thicket to check for movement and I was looking for beds. As I was going along slowly a rabbit jumped to my left. Out of habit I threw my gun up at it....I know old habit when a bunny jumps. As I watch it go off for a second I take one more step. The biggest damn doe I have ever seen jumps from a bed not 25 feet from me in a blowdown. As I try to swing the gun around I get it caught in some briars. By the time I untangle she is about 50 yds out running away from me and I cant get the scope on her. Had the damn rabbit not got my attnetion I probably could have shot her in her freakin bed, I would have at least been looking that way and seen her.
