What smokeplole will you be taking out this year?
I've used my Knight for a bunch of years, but I took my old CVA Frontier rifle (50 cal. built from a kit 25 years ago) down off the wall today, and I liked the way it feels. I believe that I'm gonna use a patched roundball this year.

Those that are not useing raised rings on their guns, don't you find it to be a real pain putting a cap on? Especially those that are bolt style?

Remington 700MLS, 250 grain Hornady SST, 150gr 777 & VariFlame / CCI’s small rifle primer. I use this set up when I’m hunting over open fields. If I’m hunting inside the woods I use the first deer gun I ever bought. It’s a 50cal Jukar, Kentucky LR, round ball, 90gr 777 and a musket cap. I hate selling an old gun or putting it out to pasture. Many deer drop by this old gun. No more 209s in the Rem 700. The VariFlames reduced my groups to 3/4 inch at 100 yards. When using the 209's the best groups I ever achieved was 2 inch and many fliers.

Well, it's already been out, and taken 2 does in firearms season, but I'll be using my CVA wolf, with 80 gr. of T7 3f, and 295 gr. powerbelts. I put a nikon 2x7 shotgun scope on board, and it shoots great! maddog

TC Renegade (percussion cap) will have 100 grains loose black powder and a 240 grain XTP Hornady Sabot. The CVA Optima will have 150 grains Shockey Gold and the same bullet as above. Both guns kill with adequate shot placement.
