I am looking to buy one tomorrow, does anyone have one? I have a small wood buring fireplace now, so my only real option is the I1200 model, but it should be great supplemental heat.

I have a i1200s in my house now , its in a 2 story rock house built in 1817 my furnace has not been on yet, you have to cut smaller pieces of wood and it lasts about 4 hrs but we dont have to open the windows because its to hot. there is NO build up in the chimney it burns up every thing but dont expect the fire to burn hot all night we dont sleep all night anyway

I've been considering a insert and this looks like a good option for me.
Right now I have a wood buring fireplace insert. I never have had the blower feel like it pushed any air. It smokes too much plus you have to leave the flue wide open and therefore it eats wood like crazy for little heat given off.
I like these because they have doors. Are you planning to do the install yourself? I'm curious on the costs. I think the I1200 would work for me.

I bought the I1200 today and it will be installed next month. I got it from Economy Fireplace in Elletsville for $2900 installed, just to give you an idea on price. I was cutting my existing wood supply a bit shorter today to accomodate the 18" firebox, and I am doing a huge insulation project right now as well. This winter should be much warmer and cheaper than the last!

I believe that it is the total bill. I had a geothermal unit replaced last year and the tax credit applied to all of the parts and labor.
I have a CEMI Concept II fireplace insert that will flat run us out of the living room if we a fire it too hard. I have had it for at least 40 years and it is a dandy. It takes 4 men and a boy to install it. It is that heavy. I don't think they are in business any longer.
It saved our bacon when we had that ice storm a few years back. No electricity for days and the temp in the house never went below 65. That was without a blower running. Just convection.
