So I need to resight my gun in since some edit cut my slit my rope and half way down in the morning my sister dropped the gun. So it nocked the scope out of sink so now I need to resight the gun in. Someone give me a bullet that will work in a rifle berrel that is going to be around a while and doesn't cost $3-5 a shell... I'll go $10 a box but above that its getting to be to much. I was using the copper solids but then they went through the roof and I had to go to a cheaper bullet. So lets hear some good rounds that you guy's use. Thanks BB

I almost bought the buckhammers last year but thought I would go with what I already had sighted in. But I might give them a shot since they are only $7 a box. Might have to wait to sight the gun in with work and every hour I have off I will try to spend in the stand. But right now the reviews on the Buckhammers have me leaning that way. Any body else have a suggestion! BB

Federal Fusion Sabots. 1600 fps, $10 a box. I'll be trying these next because my Brennekes are now over $12 A box.
I tried some buckhammers, they hammer on both ends. Shot OK but seemed like alot more recoil than other typical slugs for not much gain in performance, if any.

I just bought Hornady sst's for 11.99 a box. By far the most accurate slugs I have ever shot. I have found through the years though, that every gun shoots slugs different. When I get a new gun I buy a box of 3 or 4 different kinds and find out what my gun likes. The Hornady's have shot nice in all of my guns! For cheaper slugs, I like brenneke sabots. I have a Mossberg 9200 that I have had since I was 10 and it is a tack driver with them.

I shoot lightfields out of every slug gun I own and they always work great for me.

I know that they are a bit over your $$ range, but my brother bought some on sale this past weekend for $10.99/box... these are by far the hottest, most accurate sabot slug I've ever shot... I'll confidently take a 150 yd shot with them in my slug gun....

You will not know if your gun likes a particular slug until you shoot it.
I tried every slug I could get my hands on and the Remington Buckhammer is what my gun preferred.

While every gun is different, @ most woods ranges I've found that most any slug gun I've ever owned will shoot a lightfield slug well. They swell to fit the bore of any barrel and thus are very accurate.

I had good luck withthe Remington Buckhammer's. Designed just like Lightfields only cheaper and just as accuate. Hands down most accurate hard hittin slug and its at a good price!!! My first shotgun was a remington 870 with a Simmons pro diamond scope and i planned on moving up to a 12 until i was leaving massive holes in deer at 80 plus yards with buckhammers. My 20ga. shoots them so good my dad switched his 12 ga. from Coppersolids to buckhammers and at a 100 yards was puttin holes on top of holes. He shot his first deer with em saturday and left a massive and I mean hands down the biggest hole ive ever seen in a deer.

I'll vouch for the buckhammers.
Best available without going to premium slugs. Fwiw....I had the pleasure to kill the first deer ever killed with slugs a long time back. They were designed by a friend in Etown, Ky. Worked flawless and still will today.

I would stick with what shoots well in you gun, I know the copper solids are expensive but if they hold a tight group it's worth the cost. And you can't beat the knock down power.

Best I have ever put in my gun Hornady SST's I know there a bit more like every one said but thats seems like a small price to pay when you consider you only get to hunt a few weeks out of the year and I like to put every odd in my favor that I can

if your gun likes the copper solids it will like the buck hammers too. they shoot very similar. as a matter of fact the deer timex was talking about was shot with a gun that was sighted in for copper solids and he got the buckhammers after dark the day before he shot that deer without seeing where they were shooting. he has been using them ever since.

Buckhammers are great slugs. I have not seen them available at a lot of places where I used to get them. Is there some shortage of them?

I don't know. I just bought 10 boxes at Sportsman's Guide for $3 a box. They had a 50% off deal going yesterday and today. It said today only but it was up yesterday as well. This is for members... Now I won't get them till the 17th of December but I'll pick up a box or two at Gander this week to start sighting in the gun. So maybe there is a shortage. BB
