According to those in the know on "another site", the proposals will be withdrawn and the 2011 seaon will not be changed.
How about it Woody? What have you heard?

Pizz poor.
The DNR doesn't tell anyone but the "stakeholders". Then the stakeholders release the information.

I was hoping for some of the proposed changes to pass, but I disagreed with so many others that "throwing the baby out with the bathwater" isn't the worst thing that could happen in this case.
Above all else, I hope they take a hard look at the license/tag structure. They can add seasons if they want, but shortening the firearms season to increase harvest just made no sense.

You residents really need to let your legislators know that the process is not working. The is no logical reason why this became a take it all or nothing issue. There were several good Doe killing changes that now will be scraped because of stakeholders egos getting bruised. Really sad that your DNR can't listen to a very clear majority on common sense change.

I wrote my rep. Told him we didn't like a lot of the changes, and that the "Stakeholders" didn't represent rank and file deer hunters.

Sweet no crossbows next season Not completely true. No additional access to hunters to use crossbows, but there will be crossbows next year.

People complain about not being able to shoot more bucks. Then state OBR is why the herd is out if control yet they DON'T shoot does!! Honestly, I can't stand gun season. Trespassing, deer drives orange. Sock hat clan irritates me. Limit gun season like Illinois, and open up early doe seasons....wait that won't work because people won't shoot does! Sockhat hunters wanna pop more 1.5 year old bucks then complain there are no mature bucks.

I personally like some of the changes, especially the shortening of the gun season. Most deer are killed the first 3-4 days during gun season anyway. I personally choose to bowhunt because I like how hard and personable to deer hunting is. I hate to see gun season role around, people have no respect any more and just trespass all over the place in gun season! I'm not saying gun hunters are tresspassers, but I run into this a lot in gun season!

Id like to thank EVERYONE that took the time to voice your opposition to the proposed changes! If we would have sat back on our hauches (like the stakeholders were expecting) this dribble would have been law next year. CONGRATS! We done it! They laughed at us when we said we would stop this. They aint laughing now. We beat the vocal minority at their own game!!! LOL Better luck next time IDHA and IBA. Maybe next time you'll think past your own selfish agendas and really truely represent the deer hunters of Indiana...all of them. And maybe next time you will realize we aint a bunch of buffoons you can whiz on and convince its raining. LOL

LOL I always felt that the proposals benefited trophy bowhunters @ the expense of gun hunters from financial, season length and buck hunting opportunity standpoint(s). Hopefully the next time (and there will be a next time) the DNR will factor in what's best for the herd and for ALL hunters when making proposed changes to the seasons. Glad this one was stopped.

The trespassers are there during bow season as well. They are just quieter, camouflaged, and harder to see. I had my first stand stolen this year during bow season. I found wood stands nailed in trees during bow season. I found 5 ground blinds built this year during bow season. I found 2 and was close when a 3rd meth lab was found this year.
Trespassers, like all criminals, don't seem to worry too much about the law. No matter what time of year it is.

I agree firstwd, plus more people may be seen tresspassing during firearms simply becuz of the orange and becuz there are more gun hunters than there are bowhunters ! I would have liked to see some of the changes brought to pass but I think they should let more average hunters voice their opinions on the issues before passing laws !
I am a bowhunter almost all season, this year I will carry a muzzy out during gun season just becuz I havent been out much this year and I havent had any luck filling the freezer this year. I am a deer hunter far away from the "trophy hunter" some on this site are, not that I think thats a bad thing to each their own. I would rather take a doe than a buck simply becuz I like the taste of the meat better and I rely on it to help feed the family. With that said I wouldnt pass up a buck either though. The largest buck I have killed was last years 9 point and its far from making the books but it was a trophy to me just lke the doe I killed the previous year was a trophy ! I have never passed a buck up from being too small and if that makes me wrong becuz I dont let it become a trophy deer than OH well LOL ! I will deer hunt and take any deer that is legal with whatever equipment I can legally use until they make it where I cant hunt at all ! I do agree that more hunters should take doe instead of just hunting for a monster record book buck but that IMO ! ~ INDeerhunter ~

Hunters trying to limit other hunters is just like P.E.T.A. to me. Taking away seasons, weapons and days a field equal less hunting and thats the same agenda P.E.T.A. pushes and all this for a set of big antlers. Sad........ h.h.

I want to see things remain as they are. There is a great opportunity for all right now.
There is a heck of a lot of gun hunters that will Be at Walmart buying slugs tonight and shooting at running deer tomorrow.

there are so many things to say to some of these comments but hornharvester said about all that needs to be said. if a fellow hunter is not breaking any laws we need to support them. or it might be our form of hunting that they come after next and before long there will be no hunting at all.
