I forgot and left about 3 pieces of meat in my fridge. It has been in there since Sept 18. It looked like it had turned a little brown on the outside.

Smell it, you will know right away if it is still good or not. I would say it is fine if it has been in the refrigerator all the time. A lot of people age deer alot longer than that. That is all you really did.

Fresh killed venison? or ?? That's just 9 days ago and less than I normally leave a quartered deer in the frig in the garage before I even butcher it.
Assuming its venison, its fine UNLESS sticky or smelling (but would only be that way if introduced to some kind of bacteria during the processsing).
The browning on the meat is due to air or / and light. The most tender porterhouse you will buy in the store is the "marked down" ones that have some brown showing for the same reason.

It would be cheaper to throw it out than having to go to the Hospital for food poisoning.

My rule of thumb with questionable vension, "The nose Knows". If it smells good, eat it.
If you took it straight from the freezer to the fridge I'd say it is fine. Trim off the discolored meat if it makes you feel better.

If it is feasible, you may trim the brown part off as well.

Not likely when meat turns color and starts to get a hint of any odor like amonia or a sour smell its over .

I will typically use older cuts, that may have be a little burn, for jerky. However, if there is any unusual odor to it, I'd pitch it.

I'm in the hospital. Just kidding! Not sure how huxbux got to 24 hours. I ate this last night for dinner. It was fine. Had fajitas and they were good.
