Here is the story. I haven't had much time since school started since I coach football and usually don't get home until after 7 every night of the week. I had a JV game Saturday so I didn't get to take him until Sunday. I got out Saturday night and put up a buddy ladder stand overlooking an alfalfa field. I thought Sunday evening would be the time we would get one but we went in the morning also. We got to the stand about 6:45 and were there about a half an hour when we heard something coming up through the woods behind us we saw that it was a deer but the woods were too thick to see it well. Eventually it got almost directly under the stand but still too thick to see. It then walked about twenty yards away into the field and stopped. I made sure he took good aim and told him to take the shot. The deer took off through the woods and I heard it crash. We got down and couldn't find any blood so we got back in the treestand and waited a little longer. When we got back down I realized it ran left instead of back down the hill. We followed blood for a little ways and I didn't see anymore so I started to circle the area to see if I could pick the trail back up. About that time my son says there he is dad and sure enough he was laying about 30 yards out in front of us. Needless to say this was one of the best father-son moments ever. I was so happy for him and he couldn't have been prouder. I was 11 when I killed my first deer and he was pretty excited since he is 6 and beat dad's record. View from the stand.

Great story of a great memory made.
I've heard that "there he is dad" as few times myself. Other than "I love you" there is no three sweeter words.
Thanks for sharing it with us.
May the young man get many, many more..
