If you're into motorcycling and have heard of the Iron Butt Riders or the Long Distance Riders, here is the information on a ride I am leading to help get you IBA certified: IRON BUTT RIDE (1,000 miles in 24 hours for IBA certification "Saddle Sore 1000") SEPTEMBER 18, 2010 The main route (1,048 miles) will be from Indianapolis, IN to Nashville, TN Birmingham, AL Chattanooga, TN Nashville, TN And back to Indy We will leave Indianapolis at 3 a.m. and return around midnight. Wow, that's nuts. 1,000 miles in a 4-wheeled vehicle is bad enough, I can't imagine on a bike!

I don't know about "Iron Butt", but it sure would be sore.
We just got back from a trip (by car) to North Myrtle Beach. We took the "scenic route" down there and went through Chattanooga and then up the east side of the Smokies and stayed in Bryson City NC. From Chattanooga to Bryson and on the Blue Ridge Parkway we never saw so many motorcycles in our lives. They were everywhere. Not sure if it was just the pretty ride on Labor Day or something was going on down there, but they almost outnumbered the cars.

That is motorcycle mecca for EAST of the mississippi. East Tn, NC line is AMAZING place to ride and attracts riders from all over all the time. The great weather and extended weekend brought out even more.
