Will you hunt the October antlerless weekend? My personal opinion is that the October weekend hunt will be a bust. Every year we hear from bowhunters that dont even go out until the end of October. Too hot, too many skeeters/bugs. Too much foilage. Deer aren't moving, etc, etc, etc.. If that weekend is 85+ degrees and/or is raining kiss it off. IF anyone is out I'll bet it will be with bow in hand. They should have made it 9 days so hunters could pick a good day or two kill does..

I voted "No", mainly because Adams County isn't a 4+ quota county...as least for now anyways.

Probably! I always start deer hunting the first weekend of October anyway. The only difference is that I will be packing my bow & my PCR.

I will be out there if the weather isnt 85+ degrees but it will be with a bow in hand like u stated above ! I dont see many or any guys using that early antlerless season to hunt with a firearm. Mainly becuz of the weather, they could take a buck with a bow, and becuz if the firearms season is shortened the gun hunters arent going to support that bonus hunt at all !!! I agree it will be a bust all together !

I'm pretty sure that's illegal Deertracks. huntingindiana.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=coanswers&action=display&thread=31403Not sure how the rule will apply with an October gun season, but I would bet it will not be legal to carry both like you can in General Firearms season. We'll have to wait and see I guess?

If the leaves are still on the trees it will probably be warm, so deer hunting doesn't interest me at that time. Put some snow on the ground and it's a different story.

I will because my daughter doesn't bow hunt and does not to too well in the cold. This will basically add another "youth weekend" for us. The difference being I can have a gun with me to play back-up if she happens to have a bad hit.

The bigger question is will I hunt IN at all - which isn't looking very good for 2011 right now.

Yes, if my son wants to go, as firstwd said, I would look at this as a second youth season.
If my son does not go, the answer is YES, with my BOW

Woody, I think this question needs clarified, I will be hunting, but with a bow. Question could be "Will you hunt the early antlerless season with a gun?"

Usually got a scoped 22lr during October killing squirrels, wonder if I can carry a slug gun or muzzleloader as well?

Too hot, too many bugs and not enough doe in my area for me to kill them in Oct with a gun. If I kill any doe it will be in muzzle loaders season. h.h.

Yep...I'll do it! But, it's gonna get crowded out there with squirrel hunters, turkey archery hunters, deer archery hunters and now deer firearms hunters. I hope everyone in the field wears their hunter orange, proudly displayed. Stay safe, BOB
