Per Woody's request....
In 2009-2010 there were 64 counties that had a bonus doe quota of either 8 or 4. This year that number has jumped to 72 counties. That's almost 80% of the state.
There are only 6 counties in the entire state that have a 1 bonus antlerless quota.
82 counties have a 3 bonus antlerless quota or above. That's 90% of the state.
This after 5 straight years of kills averaging 128K and the last two years both being record setting kills of 130K and 133K respectively. This is nearly a 20% increase over the previous 5 years.
Wonder how many more 8's and 4's there will be for 2011-2012?
That's why I question what it will take to satisfy the legisla....err.....DNR.
And I still contend that the vast majority of the deer/vehicle collision issues are in areas that hunter access is the number one issue.
And all the quotas and extra antlerless seasons (even for 100% of the state) won't fix that.
