If these new proposals are implemented, I might have to cut back on my deer hunting to my favorite hunting grounds as it is 110.7 miles, drive way to drive way. Gas prices are holding some what steady now, but next year could be a different story. Curious as to how far others drive to get to their favorite spot. Retired now, fixed income, yeah I know us old guys don't count for much any more.

Im lucky ... the farm I bought is about 15 miles from my house. I can leave work (before the time change in November) an hour early and still have a good afternoon hunt.
Until 7 or 8 years ago my best hunting spot was an 1 hour and 30 minute drive away. I feel for ya.

Just curious, why would the proposed changes change where you hunt or how far from your house. My favorite spot is about an hour and a half away from home but the only variables I have is #1 Can my old truck make it there without stranding me on the side of the road #2 Gas prices.

I simply walk out my back door to one of my three Stands, to hunt Deer. Same with other species of game animals.

100+ miles. I never stay overnight, usually a need to get back home for one reason or another. A shorter season will definitely decrease opportunities for me.

I fall in the category of walking out the back door. Pretty happy about that, but it makes it hard to sit on stand for too long when you know everything else that needs to be done!

Roughly 7 miles to my stomping grounds, 100 miles if I head to my southern area. I hunt after work before the time change and basically anytime possible.
