Super accurate to extreme distances...if you can see it, it's in range and in trouble. Welcome to 21st century technology. I'll never own another smoke-belcher.

Love mine, just wish I had the accu-trigger, mine is an older model. Was shooting three different 10 MLs tonight. Been waiting on the cooler weather for a little test session. 57 g of N120 a harvester crush rib sabot and a 300 barnes original, 1.75" at 200!!

Swat, That's some fine shooting! Mine too is a pre accu-trigger that I installed a timney trigger on some years ago. They are indeed the finest muzzleloader made IMHO. Last month I went to the range and put 3 shots into 1.93" at 200 yards. My load: 69.0 Gr. of N-120 with a 200 Gr. SST Hornady bullet in a Blue MMP sabot. I went to the lighter bullet to get away from the heavy recoil...makes me "flinchy". Best of luck to you this season. BOB

BOB Bob, 200 grain bullets have a tendancy to go "poof" in cold weather......lots of misfires because of less bearing surface in the smaller bullets. Unless you are shooting a PacNor .45 barrel. If so then 58-60 grains of H4198 shoots lights out. h.h.

HH, I appreciate your comments and am "knocking on wood" as I type this... but in the 4 1/2 years that I have been shooting this load and under all kinds of hunting conditions it has never failed me! when I pull the trigger a "failure to fire" is on the bottom of the list of things I am concerned with. Thanks again for the advise and if it happens I'll send you a PM that says "you told me so"! Good luck to you this season...make us proud. BOB

I shoot the laminate, I cuss it when I carry it in season but love it when I shoot mine with my 3 buddies plastic ones. It always outshoots them by a little. Only thing I can figure is the stiffer heavier stock. Any advise on vent liners shooting N120? How many rounds on a stock ventliner shooting 57g of N120? Are the aftermarket vent liners better? Just curious.
Bob, I thought about putting a Shilen trigger in mine. I am a sniper for a sheriff's dept. and have a Shilen in my work rifle and am familiar with the feel. Can you buy an accu-trigger?

Laminated stocks are better than the tuperware stocks unless you modify them. The plastic stocks flex quite a bit, laminated do not. Ventliners are .031 - .032 new, most guys change them around .036. You can buy a torch tip cleaner that has several different sizes. Mic the one that is .036 and use that as a gage. There are a couple aftermarket ventliners available, Lehigh seems to be one of the best for long life. On the average factory ventliners last 100 shots or so after market 500 + but it depends on powder burn rate and grains of the load. I have a Timney in my non accutrigger 10 ML. Sharp Shooter Supply makes one of the best aftermarket triggers for Savage. Very adjustable. You cant put an accutrigger in a non accutrigger gun unless you machine the action, the safety's are different.

Thanks, HH. I am still learning even though I've been tinkering with them for probably 8 years. Bought my laminate the year before the accu-trigger. You know anywhere that has N120 readily available, on the web or otherwise?

Swat, Ventliners...I use an aftermarket vent from Randy Wakeman. I keep track of the number of shots I have on liners and the last (8) vents averaged 81 shots each. As many as 168 shots and as few as 39. Obviously, some are harder than others.
Get ahold of several sizes of "safety pins" (baby diaper pins) and mike the diameter of each. Pick the one that is about .036" to .038" in diameter. At each cleaning try to stick the safety pin through the vent. If it won't go in, keep shooting. If it goes through, replace with a new ventliner.
Do as HH said and spend some time over at "Dougs" and ask questions. There is lots of knowledge there for free. Take care, BOB
