Anyone on here ever use one of those roll-up plastic deer sleds to retrieve their deer? I have been looking at them and wondering how well they would hold up in rough terrain. I have a few places where I can't get a 4 -wheeler or deer cart into so I am looking at these for a new option. Thanks in advance for any input.

Ive used on for several years and they work great in rough terrain. With a good frost or snow on even better. h.h.

Not a roll up sled but a big plastic sled that I put the deer in and strap it in. Much esier then dragging along the ground and cleaner.

This is what i use, it goes on all hunts,, only negative is fences, i put a two inch thick sapling(beech tree) about 16 inches long for a pull, i accually get inside the pull rope and put the sapling across my bend in my elbow...lean and go........works for our camp......good luck.... ![8-)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/cool.png) ...turkey scout

Anyone have any negative thoughts or problems with these before I order one? Just another piece of equipment to bring along with you. It helps but only if you bring it with you.

I know that after my mid fifties the deer have gotten heavier each year. I've seriously considered a sled or a cart to help get 'em to the truck.

Anyone have any negative thoughts or problems with these before I order one? post the one u are thinking about and let us have a look. My partner uses a sled shaped like a boat made out of hard plastic. We love it! ![](http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y161/antiwheeze/lastdoe2009ed-1.jpg) Between my cart and his sled we are good to go. The only prob I have had with his sled is on a very steep hill but the cart also was difficult. ![](http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y161/antiwheeze/100_4124-1.jpg) Cart vs sled: cart is better for long distances over trails sled is better for short thick jobs esp with dry leaves or frozen ground my cart is quieter than his sled Get and use both!

Here's what Ive found, carts are good for logging roads or any place there is not a lot of logs laying on the ground. Sleds work great in the woods, bottoms and they work on the roads just as good. Mine rolls up with the pulling rope tied on like a sling. It says in the back of my truck until I need it. Once I shoot a deer I tag and gut it then head off to my truck for the sled. I also cut a small tree and make a pole to use for pulling the sled. Last year three of us took a 160 pound buck up one very long, steep raven and then to the truck. We stopped 3-4 times going up the hill but after that it was all down hill to the truck. Ive had mine for over 10 years and its payed for itself many times over. h.h.

I have the sled like antiwheeze posted and also the heavy cabela's 2 wheel cart, and finally I have a tractor for my home court.
My cart is not very compact but does great in moderate to light brush. Not the best in scrub or heavy mud. Not good for public ground because I don't have a shell on my truck bed. It is a great tool to move fire wood aroun the house too!
The sled is good for just about anywhere. but not as easy in moderate to light brush or trails. The sled is cheaper, not as likely to be stole out of your truck, and the kids get to play with it when it snows!
The tractor is the easiesest but by far the most expensive and least mobile.

LOL , He's usually around to help but this new place we are looking at the deer are most likely to fall at the bttom of a deep ravine with lots of downed trees so we are trying to be prepared for the worst. I'll have to pass your suggestion on to him Hahaha
