Their ability to hide is .... pretty good.
I was doing some spraying at the farm yesterday .... riding my atv pulling a 60g fimco sprayer behind me. wasnt going 5mph ..... going through an unmowed area. I had been watching for fawns all day long but got distracted and the next thing I know a fawn comes running out from behind me as I had just driven over it.
It couldnt have been more than a day or two old ..... about twice as big as a house cat.
I felt horrible ..... he didnt have any visible injuries but was pretty wobbly on his feet. Not sure if it was from what had just happened to him or if he was just that young and not able to get around on his own yet. I went back to the area after about an hour and it was nowhere to be found so hopefully mama moved him to a new area where he will be safe from idiots like me.
I had planned on doing some mowing next week but have decided to keep away until late July or early August before I do any of that.

Do you think it got any of the chemicals on it?

No. I wasnt actually spraying where it happened. I was going from one area to another.
I was spraying one 3 acre field that I am fairly certain didnt have any fawns in it. I was also spot spraying around some spring planted apple and pear trees.

If that question was for me .... no. I have no idea what that is. Google up "wildlife flush chains", it's a method of flushing wildlife out ahead of equipment going through fields while spraying or harvesting. Used a lot in bird country where part of a landowners paycheck is based on a good crop of hunt able animals for people to pay for the privilege of hunting.

aahh... got ya. Before your response I tried googling "flush chains" and got all sorts of hits for toilet bowl hardware ..... ;D
As tight as that little guy was sitting I dont know that anything would have helped.
