You are on the last of your 4 day Mirriam's hunt in South Dakota. You have seen tons of birds but just haven't been able to seal the deal. This bird comes in and hangs up at 45 yards. What do you do?

Cry! I don't have enough confidence in my set-up to shoot much past 35yds.

Call my buddies and tell them that I finally scored on a nice white-tipped merriam!!
I'd putt once with my mouth to get him out of strut before putting the holosight on him though. Don't want to mess up that mount.

45 yds is to far for me, regardless of how my gun patterns. He walks

I would wait till he comes out of the strut then it's lights out for Mr. Tom.

Bow: I would take a poke at him. Put the 40 yard pin a froghair higher on my compound and I'm pretty confident on the kill.
Shotgun: Wait to see if he gets closer, but my 3" mag isn't trying at 45 yards. I don't want a cripple.

Cluck one time with my mouth call and let him pop his up and he is history. In a open field with my Nitros and Rhino choke tube I'll take that shot all day long!

Look forward to next year and think of recipes for tag soup. (20 gauge turkey hunter).

I don't worry about it, this bird is dead. Especially if I hunt with Indy, he'll be lurking close by, close enough to ambush my bird. ;D

Absolutely that bird is dead, 45 is in range for me. As you can see he has already walked right past 410 who is half asleep from carrying around that 150 lb Howitzer he calls a turkey gun. Good thing someone pays attention in the woods or we wouldn't have had any food that night. Couldn't handle eating stale Doritos off the hotel floor 2 nights in a row.
