Is there anything these days that someone will claim is NOT killing us?

No. It's part of the Plan, and has been since Ayn Rand commented on it in the 40s.
"The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. When there aren't enough criminals, one MAKES them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws. ... Create a nation of law-breakers, and then you cash in on the guilt." -- Ayn Rand "Atlas Shrugged"

Ayn Rand, one of my favorite authors. She should be required reading for anyone even thinking about entering an institute of higher learning, before their indoctrination by liberal college professors begins.

I would think they would need to do a study with deer that weren't shot with a lead bullet to make sure the lead is not coming from some other source.

As I recall they said the same thing about fiberglass and carbon arrows. How that they would splinter and spread thru-out the body of any animal that was struck with one.

It is a big deal to have the meat from hunters pulled from food pantries. Big enough that there needs to be more research done to prove it is not an issue, assuming facts can win the battle...
I can see batches being contaminated very easily. A comercial grade grinder that accumulates some lead fragments as the grindable meat is processed. How long does it take one of those grinders to pop out 100# of meat? Not long. The focus of people wondering how the lead was spread from one portion of the body to the next is not relevant. The article clearly indicated the meat was ground and we all know that comes from all parts and in some cases includes some shot up meat. Remember these are noth "your" deer. How many times at the check station have you seen the deer with 5 holes in em? Or a shot through the hind quarters, shoulder and neck? It happens and under the correct situation very possible to get some lead contamination in the meat.
Regardless, the meat was collected from one location most likely donated by the same processor, however the knee jerk reaction could have a lasting effect on how we donate wild game from here on. FDA or any govt agency can not regulate what we eat privately unless they can ban lead bullets. They can prevent Food pantries from donating food to the poor though.
We need to call "Myth Busters"!
