It is a passion driven by a selfish greed for antlers IMHO. If its meat one wants, there are many antlerless deer to be taken. If it's an additonal challenge one wants after harvesting their one buck, then target a mature doe. Or better yet, lease a farm in an urban deer county. Funny thing is, guys are killing second and third bucks a year anyway and having their wives and/or kids or other family members check them in for them. When I first read your blog I thought you were calling those who are in favor of the OBR greedy ..... but after reading it again it seems you are calling those who would like to kill more than one buck greedy. either way I agree .... and IMO both sides are greedy. Many of those in favor of the OBR, like me, see it is a way to encourage an upward shift in male deer age structure and thus more quality bucks ... antler greed. Many of those against the OBR want to kill more bucks ... antler greed. Both could be seen as equally greedy.

WHATEVER is is that`s being beaten, it`s being beaten because there is a real passion about this subject. Try as you might to stifle the debate, try as you might to make the debate "civil", it WILL go on, and the emotions WON`T subside. I'm not trying to "stifle debate" in the least. My input on it is that it is a dead horse. You all may beat on it all that you want, but it will never get up and walk again. But, you are right. We can be passionate about a subject, but we will be civil about it. At least here we will be. . Apologies-I never meant to say that YOU were trying to stifle the debate, but only that some would rather not have it go on anymore. But it can`t be any more obvious how passionate a debate it is, when every single time it comes up, the very same arguments and emotions flow again. As to remainging civil, I have no doubt that everyone intends just that when the discussion begins, but it`s when those emotions begin to well up that it`s so easy to lose perspective just for a bit. When anyone is honest and passionate in their belief, I have a hard time finding fault even if they momentarily forget protocol. But that`s just me.

You always could kill two bucks or even three here in Indiana. You just need to take advantage of some bonus hunts! WRONG-You could always kill two bucks legally here in Indiana, WITHOUT taking advantage of bonus hunts. But that`s been taken away by some special interest groups. Nice try though.......... Nope - You can still kill two bucks here legally. PERIOD. If YOU choose not to that's YOUR problem. There's plenty enough of opportunity to take advantage of. Between park, refuge or military I always get something.

For even more repetition; I won't join either camp. I want the reg's set up for whatever is in the best interest of the herd, regardless of how many that means we can take or what it does for large antlers. Let the biologists decide, not the hunters.
