This may be a dumb question but how is a person to know how many does to take? I know you try to get it as even as possible 2:1 would be great. But Ive watch my field before and counted 15 deer with 10 being bucks and 5 does. Then another evening see 8 does and maybe one or two young bucks. I have no clue how many does or bucks the neighbors are taking so what is a person to do? Shoot ever doe your allowed? I try to take at least one doe every year. If I shoot a buck I try to take at least two does. I guess I just try to leave it better than I found it the year before. What do you guys do to manage your doe numbers, if this is really even possible on the smaller property's? And what is the way you base your doe harvest on? Do alot of you take your does early in bow? Or wait and use the does as bait for the rut, then take the does in muzzle loader? I would like to take them early but fear I will mess the spot up, plus it can be really warm in the early bow season. Any thoughts?

I think it's impossible for 1 person to have much of an effect. We've averaged 2 - 3 deer per contestant on here since it has been going. 2-3 deer isn't going to count for much - only when you look at the total harvest can you make some adjustments and that's up to the state. I hunted 5 different properties this last year and saw more does than I could keep track of and 4 bucks (I think that's right). I remember anoher guy on here saying just the opposite. You take what you're dealt, it will even out over all.

What he said. Take what you're given and let the state worry about ratios.
