When do bucks first start new antler growth? Does it happen directly after they shed their previous set or does it happen later?

I've heard of people seeing some growth during the spring turkey season.

I personally have seen bucks with the start of antler growth during turkey season.
If you see a decent buck then you can almost guarantee that he will be a shooter come fall.

My former employer kept a couple of penned deer as pets at his house. Two of them were bucks. According to him, there is about a 2 week time frame between antler drop and new "nubs" starting.

I have about a dozen bucks coming to the feeder. Two still have both sides. One dropped in early January and he comes everyday, he has not started growing anything yet.

I see bucks just about every turkey season that have new antler growing. We had six come up on us last year and they all had some antler, anywhere from little nubs to 6 or 7 inches.

Very dependent on the testosterone levels. I once saw a 3-point with 7-8 in spikes during turkey season and saw him again on opening day of bow season with the same size antlers.

I have seen 2 bucks with over 10" of antler the last weekend of turkey season, so 2nd weekend in May. That farm had 2 dandy deer killed off of it next season. Never seen any growth any other times.

I've seen some nice bucks during turkey season. I only hunt the area for turkeys, so I don't know how they turned out.
