How many of you will butcher road kill deer? Ive butchered several in the last 10 years and butchered one last night. The one last night was a big doe that weighed in the 150 -160 range. When I walked upon her I thought is was a buck that dropped its antlers. Sheriffs dept gave me a permit and today I ground it all into hamburger. Ended up with close to 40 lbs. This one goes to a needy family I know. Next one will too. Sheriffs Dept told me they would call me when the got another one. h.h.

I have, and I am very picky before I start. I've opened up a couple that were just destroyed under the skin, but I've also butchered a couple with very little waste. In Adams county, there is a list of people waiting for roadkilled deer if the driver doesn't want it.

I know alot of guys who do but I don't. I have a picked up a few only to cut into them and find them destroyed, then I'm stuck with it.

I have and would again, depending of course on the damage.
I think a lot of people think rotten and bloated when they hear "roadkill." If something is dead, the method hardly matters. Bullet or bumper, what's the difference?

Similiar to meecedb, broken rear leg, lost the hind quarter, but still made good hamburger.

I picked one up this year. It was button buck that we got ~30 pounds of meat from. I think it was hit in the head - it NO damage to any of the meat. There was no bruising on the meat anywhere.
