Anyone tried the green chili sub that Subway has been advertising so heavily?
It looked so good in the ads that I finally gave in and went for one yesterday.
Now, I've been around for a long time, and I expect a certain ampount of difference between the picture in the ads and the actual product, but the example I got at the Martinsville Subway shop was pretty extreme.
The meat that appears to be about all that could be stuffed into the bun in the picture, turns into a couple tablespoon worth lost in there somewhere, with a skimpy helping of each of the ingredients sprinkled over it, and if there was any green chili in there it was not enough to detect with the naked eye or my aging taste buds.
The most aggravating part is I still want one when I see the ads, and the ingredients were fresh and tasty, just in microscopic measure. Now I want one and have no idea where I could buy it, since there's no sense in going back to the Subway shop and asking for another.
Anyone experience a better example of a different Subway actually dealing out something closer to the sandwich in the picture, or is this as good as it gets at Subway?
Guess the bright side is that if I keep eating their sandwiches, I'll probably lose more weight than their spokesman, Jared.

I dunno, I remember seeing the ads for the buffalo chicken sub a while back and wanting one. Got one and was pleased!
Personally tho, I like a Jimmy Johns if they are around. mmm.

The Wal-Mart in my area offers a Subway sandwich which is very meaty. The sandwich is loaded with roast beef slices, lettice, onion, and tomatoe, on a whole wheat 6" sub.

Best Subway I have found is at Kentucky Ave and Mann Rd. Clean, fast, and they put out a good sub.

Having sampled the wares at more than a few Subway stores, I can't honestly say that I've ever found either their product quality or service worthy of reccomendation, Quiznos gets a similar review, not impressed in the least, and their prices were slightly higher. My wife and I ate at a Jimmy Johns recently, if they're representative of the other stores we won't be back. Lousy service, and a less than satisfying sandwich left a very poor first impression. We both like Penn Station, although they could bake their bread a few minutes longer, and cook the fries long enough for them to actually get crisp. Their sandwiches are very good though, high quality ingredients and not stingy with them.

I finally decided to try making my own green chili sub.
Put a two pound rump roast from last fall's buck in the crock pot for the afternoon and evening, and went to the store for some green chili sauce, some sub buns, and some other goodies.
Our archery league shot tonight, and when I got home the roast was out of the hot tub and cooling off. sliced it thin and made the sandwiches with the meat filling the buns pretty much like the pic at the sub shop.
Two of those and a beer in a frosted mug, and I'm a happy man again.

Penn Station is definitely good too! Man they make a good reuban sub.
Kevin1, you must have a bad Jimmy Johns. The ones in Bloomington are fast and good. However, good food is in the eye of the beholder too.
