Yep....
This is a long way from being over.
If I remember correctly it was the deer "farmers" that drug their feet on actually signing a settlement last year.
" Compromise" was offered by the IDNR but never officially accepted, nor signed by the "deer farmers".

Not exactly....if he won round one they would be abiding by the "settlement" and there would be no trial. As it stands they are retrurning to court on April 7th. Jack

Jack Not exactly: the current status of this case leaves the IDNR with LESS control over hunting preserves than their proposed settlement would. This is not round one.... but rather round three of the legal battle.... and the winner has been decisive each time. Preserve hunts are booked solid across this state well into 2009: and will likely remain succesful much much much longer. If not indefinately. Six months ago this thread would've been 4 pages long by now: instead it's recieved only three posts in as many days. Hmmmm? I assure you fellas, you've been this far off base the whole time... the only variable has been your confidence in a purely emotional stance.

The Indiana Deer Farmers had a booth at the Deer & Turkey Expo and was asking for signatures on a petition, I never stopped to see what they was pushing.
The capitive elk trailer was also there with a bull elk that was over 400 inches, and 7 years old. I talked to that guy for a minute, he gets about 7 calvs a year, he sells some to hunting perserves and slaughters some he also sells the antlers. He said a grass pasture would support 3 per acre.
As long as you have a demand, you will have high fence kiling pens!

I can't believe they were let to set up a booth, the show is to promote deer and turkey hunting, WILD that is. Not the caged protein, calcium enriched giants they had mounted behind them on there wall, made me sick.

The show is about $$$$ and if there was no $$$$ in promoting deer and turkey hunting there would be no show, most likely not much of anything in the world of hunting. It is about marketing and getting $$$$. It's about convincing a guy he needs to use $1400 gun to shoot ducks, $300 carbon suit to kill deer, or convincing the guy he needs a big deer hanging on his wall to prove his abilities.

But how many of ya'll went there and was tickled to death to meet these people? I see alot of bad mouthing those who kill big bucks on tv but yeat ya'll flock to the ata show to get your picture taken with them? Someone on here even called the shows "deer porn". Ya'll seem to be preachin against porn on sunday and recording it the rest of the week?

Not sure if it is directed at me or not, but since you are using my statement I'll respond. I wanted to go to the expo this year but didn't. 2 young kids, not so great weather kept me close to home. I have not been excited to see any "hunting/fishing celeb" since I met Bill Dance at the boat, sport, & travel show 20+ yrs ago. I like to see the wall of fame they are impressive animals, could care less to see who killed them or how they killed them.
I appreciate that guys are tring to make money, it's the american way. And that is what the sport shows are all about, making money! If Renfro wasn't making money it wouldn't be going on.
