Is this what people are afraid will happen if Indiana adds a couple of days of hunting in December? This is what this group did to "cull" their buck population. Most are 8pts or less. This is a lot of skinning... Attachments:

According to Rich, the guy in the second photo, and Officer Hamilton with the Michigan DNR Law Enforcement Division’s Special Investigations Unit, there were 10 citiations issued for untagged deer. The hunters that took the untagged deer were accounted for and had tags so the citations were for basically "delayed tagging". If they had intentions of tagging the deer or not is beyond me, but apparantly there was no "over bagging" I know this is Michigan, but doesn't Iowa require a tag to be placed on an animal not more than 15 minutes after discovery? Here is a 2005 picture... Attachments:

I may be wrong but this looks like part of a photo that was posted on another site that stated this was a hunt on a private island in Lake Michigan waters. There are actually more deer on each side that do not appear in this photo. The story went on to say that several citations were written for untagged deer.

Since when do game law violators pose with CO's with smiles on their faces? I don't think we will ever hear the truth behind these pictures!

Are you talking about the smiles on the violators faces or the CO's? I thought both were odd if any serious violations were found. We may never know the truth, but I would put money on the story of one of the arresting officers. Since the deer are 6+ miles from mainland and they are more than likely at the islands carrying capacity I guess I would rather see them on a pole than dying of disease/starvation.

Those that are smiling did not get tickets. Here you are supposed to tag your deer as soon as you find it.

If you read through the link that HH posted, you'll find this link: bloodbro.com/messageboard/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=8640The whole story from the hunters is there. It was a private island, 6 miles out into a lake. The deer weren't going anywhere after they were shot. Yes, they should have tagged them but I don't honestly see any intention of NOT tagging them. They were simply delayed in doing so and the DNR showed up before they had.

Thank you for the link danf! Awesome story of an island paradise full of deer that others get jealous of and start calling CO's. The CO's were more than happy to write a few meaningless tickets for delaying the tagging of an animal. Nothing less, nothing more.
