Guys never buy a stand that has a Styrofoam seat, i went out today and hunter a stand that i had not hunted in a while and the seat was frozen solid and every time i even thought about sitting down it started popping and cracking. Also what do you guys do to keep those stand quiet in winter, those stand just somehow get creakier from fall to winter even though i have two new ratchets and i had them as tight as i could possible get them.

I have some 2" thick closed cell foam that I cut into butt sized pieces and have my mom sew camo covers for them. That foam is like a giant heat pack. When it is real cold, I put a piece in the chest area of my overalls. It keeps me very warm.

I use one of the roll-up inflatable (or rather, self-inflating... you open the valve and they go from 1/4" thick to 1.25" thick) seats, that's basically a smaller version of a camping pad, and they have a strap that goes around your waist... I also use these on long motorcycle trips...

I have two Gorilla King Kongs that I got a few years back and they had the best removable seat pads I had ever sat on. Only bad thing was that the dual air bladders in them only lasted about a year and went flat. They still are not too bad with the layer of open cell and layer of closed cell foam in them. Just wish you could air them back up! I have not tried the new pad they come with now.
