Thou shalt not kill....hello? The bible clearly states animals are for our consumption...Thou shall not kill pertains more to human beings killing each other..

I usually just thank him for the day, my family, friends, and the chance to do it again onther day. I can't remember asking for a deer though. here

Don't pray very often for God to bless me with a deer but ALWAYS say a prayer thanking him for blessing me with a deer after I shoot one.

It sounds like Woody and I are very much alike. As soon as I get settled in my stand, I recite a prayer similar to this one:
"Lord,
Thank You for another day of life and for giving me good health that allows me to hunt. Thank You for the places that I have permission to hunt. Please keep me safe during this hunt, as well as any other hunters out there as well. If it is Thy will, please at least allow me to see deer today, so that even if I don't get a shot at one, I'll be able to study their mannerisms, and perhaps pattern them for another day. If You do feel that I am worthy to harvest a deer today, please guide my arrow (or bullet) so that it flies true and hits where it should. Please make my tracking job short and easy.
In Jesus' precious name, Amen."
