As awful as the wind was yesterday, it makes for great still hunting. I have had horrible luck all year, around 20 hunts and have seen a total of 4 deer. Got a wild hair to go to the woods late yesterday. My step dad, who has killed some monsters always says these days are the best to slip around in because you and the deer can hear nothing. Grabbed my daughter and dropped her off at the dads house. Got in my truck at 4:20. 5 minute drive to woods. Walked 200 yds across open field and slipped into woods. 30 yds in looked to my left and saw a big doe standing boadside 40 yds out. Drew on hear and fired 150 grain from the CVA wolf. As I shot 4 more took off I didnt see. She fell at 60 yds. Looked at my watch when I fired and it was 4:39. Couldnt believe it. Wind was so bad the woods looked like it was going to blow over, it was absolutly insane out there but glad I did it.

Congratulations!!
I'm waiting until tomorrow evening and all this weekend.
I haven't killed anything with Omega in years. Time to bloody it again.

Hunting in the woods with this kind of wind is a little dangerous. You have to watch out for falling limbs. h.h.

Been seeing lots of deer the past few days. Too bad I have been driving instead of hunting! They are starting to yard so it seems if you see one you will likely see 4 or more.

At this time of year you can expect to see groups of does together. This is normally because they have been bred. They are not really yarding.

I almost went early this morning, but the bed just felt too good!
Think that I'll head to Morgan Monroe around 10 or so and see if I can bring one in out of the cold!

Went out this evening not really expecting much. I jump a nice 8 by one of my stands, but decided to go on to a stand further back in by some standing corn. sat down at 3:45 and at 4:30 had a string of 6 bucks come by. I took the 4th buck in line a 125ish 8 pt.I thought it odd that they were all together, they were just casually browsing, not sniffing for a doe or acting rutty.

Jumped a very young doe on my way in tonight. Questionable shot, about sixty yards in thick brush quartering away.... I passed on it. May regret it later, but I'd rather have a good, clean ethical shot.
Still zero bucks seen over last two years.
