I haven't shot a deer in gun season. I passed on a nice 8 pter on the first day and Ive seen 3 bucks in two weeks and they were all small. Ive had several doe feeding in my food plot every evening the last two weeks and I passed on them waiting on the big one to show up. I'm hunting the park reduction hunt tomorrow and then next weekend its "game on". h.h.

It's been sort of a tough Deer Hunting season, guys. I almost got "skunked" myself. My Brother did. The Deer acted differently this season as they stayed in the brush & woods. This next statement of mine might get me negative response, BUT I think the early archery season spooks the deer.

This next statement of mine might get me negative response, BUT I think the early archery season spooks the deer. Doubtful, most bowhunters have learned to be very quiet and patient, as one has to be very close to the deer to get a shot off. Unlike the Orange Army that stomps all over everything and doesn't have to be ask careful, because they have for greater range.

Early archery hunt is done under much different conditions. Once the trees lose their leaves the game changes. Those spots that had plenty of cover with the leaves on are are now wide open and the deer move to the thickest nastiest cover they can find. Quiet and stealth are not as easy during firearms season when the deer a laying down listening to folks bumble and stumble thru the woods.

Haven,t fired a shot or let an arrow fly this season. Started hunting Nov.5th and continued every day until the end of firearm season except for 4 days. Over 130 hours on the stand , no deer. I have had seasons like this before , it happens .I will be back out with the muzzleloader Saturday. It was an awesome season , I thanked God for another year of hunting and each and every day in the woods.
