I bought a thompson encore and a nice nikon scope. I had it bore sighted in at Dick's Sporting Goods. (FYI, it was way off so be sure to double check before you hunt with a laser sighted scope.) It is amazing how much more accurate it is then my 12 gauge. My shotgun is going to stay in the safe from now on. Anyhow, I'm going out tonight and tomorrow morning to put it in action.

all guns that have been bore sighted should be "fine tuned" before "ANYONE" tries to hunt with them My understanding and experience is that a bore sighter only gets you "on the paper"
good luck with your new smoke pole!

I have a Encore and you will love it. It is about all I hunt with anymore. Like Lonnie said, boresighting will just put it on the paper. A cheap and easy way to boresight is to fasten your barrel into a sight vice. Look down through the barrel and sight a distant object into the center of the bore. Then look through the scope, without moving the position of the barrel, and adjust it to the same distant object. Check between looking through the bore and looking through the sight a couple of times to make sure they are both on the same object. After that, take it out and fine tune it by shooting it.
