We got several pics of this old buck. We didn't think he would score very much because of his short tines. Opening day of Illinois gun season he came from behind me and to my right. I was in a awkward shooting position and never could get settled on his chest. I should have repositioned myself before I shot. At a 100 yards I missed him and he ran towards my buddy. He ended up getting a shot and put the brute down. Boy where we fooled by the score! He still doesn't look he scores 177" but trust me he does. The main beams, spread and mass really contributed to the score. 28" main beams, 22" inside spread, over 38" of mass, and 10 scorable points ranging from 9" to 4".

Nice deer..You're right he doesn't look no where near 170.. The 56 inches of beams, 22" spread and 38 inches of mass equals 116", so the 10 scorable points just need to AVERAGE 6 inches to get to 176". We never thought he had that kind of beam length, mass & spread.
