Clearing The Way: Sen. Bayh Says He'll Bring Health Care Bill To Floor
Christina Bellantoni
Sen. Evan Bayh (D-IN) has pledged to vote to bring the health care bill to the floor, a procedural hurdle that would allow the Senate to start debating the $849 billion plan.
Without promising he'd back the final plan, Bayh told the Hill newspaper he would support the first cloture motion that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid files. Several conservative Democrats had suggested they might vote against that, and Republicans have threatened to use those procedural votes as political fodder.
Bayh said:
"At the end of the process, I'll avoid the Washington two-step of voting to go forward but then voting against the final bill. But this is just a starting point, so at this point I do think there's a difference." He joins Sen. Ben Nelson (D-NE), who suggested yesterday he would do the same.
Call him today, and tell him if he votes for this his political career is over!!!(202) 224-5623

Bayh needs to go! He wants to lead everyone into thinking that he has conservative values but he is in the tank with the liberals!

He sent me an email yesterday. I hit reply and told him a yes vote for health care equals a no vote come next election. Hopefully he is smart enough to understand.

You know, if the Democrats would have put as much effort into job creation as they have Healthcare Reform, a big percentage of people would be back to work and be able to pay for their own Health insurance!

Classic candyassed move. If you were against the bill you wouldn't vote in favor of it at all.

Classic candyassed move. If you were against the bill you wouldn't vote in favor of it at all. I agree. Bayh is just moving the Liberal Agenda along. Now that they have got it to the floor, they may not need 60 Dem votes, because they will be able to buy out republican liberals like Olimpia Snow. What is another 300 million? They bought out Landreau from Louisiana! Bayh likes to play both sides of the fence.

Seems to run in the family. His daddy was a master at it. He was a Kennedy wannabe lib five years out of six, and changed back into a Hoosier country boy moderate in election years.
Back in '68, I somehow got on two separate mailing lists with Birch Bayh's campaign. Received two campaign letters, one showing his support for the Gun Control Act and one showing his support for gun owners. The letters and their envelopes were even color-coded, one in blue ink and the other in black! Still, their Dem office help couldn't keep their mailings straight, and ended up sending both to some of us.
I kept them in my toolbox for years and drug them out to make my arguments against him and his party during the next few elections when the break-area politics got heavy.
