Ok guys, my vacations over after this week and I'm bored to tears. I filled my buck tag 10-31 and I know others like Ridgerunner tagged out awful early also. So heres a question I have for those of you with no luck yet, would you trade your position? Would you prefer to be tagged even before firearms or would you take your chances and be this far in with the tag still in your pocket? I know there are a lot of variables but humor me, remember I'm bored.....and did I mention my wife does home daycare!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I do not regret passing on deer earlier. Just gives me more reason to be out there. Latest I have taken one in Indiana is 12/22 so I still have plenty time.

Well If I would have tagged out early I could be hunting the reduction hunts for a buck. So you still have some choices. But I haven't and also I'm a meat hunter first so would still be out there anyways..

I think it is bittersweet, glad you got one but it kills you to see all the pics and hear all the stories. It's like turkey season, you prepare for months, watch videos , drive two hrs and setup camp. Some years you bust one the 1st morning and then your like wow,I'm done! All that preperation and excitement and done, I think it proves that it is not all about the kill. If you have hunter inside you the kill alone cannot satisfy it.

I'm cheap as they come.
Since I bowhunt, I'd prefer to shoot a buck with my bow. Then hunt on bonus tags the rest of the season.
Also, I don't want to hunt any less when I do shoot a buck early in the season.

I guess since I am not a buck only hunter I would not regret tagging out early. I would still be hunting them does to fill up my freezer

You kidding? I'd much rather be tagged out with a buck now than still hunting for one!! Standards won't change though no matter how late in the season it gets. If I get a buck early I'm doe hunting anyway.
Vectix have you limited out on does yet? If not why be bored? Go hunting and take pictures of any bucks that walk by!

Between my son and myself we have 5 antlerless deer in the freezer with our bows. Ridgerunner - the deer you tagged was that size wasn't it? I mean as big as the 8 you saw?

guys how many deer you want him to take? lol!
hey Vectrix I been thinking about your situations , I think you should start filming other hunts for your son and friends. It will give you lots more time in the woods to scout , see big bucks and enjoy it all
But come on now be honest with yourself ( remember i have know you just about as long as your mom) you enjoy harvesting those monster bucks and can't hardley stand to see someone else get that buck lmao!!! Seriuosly think about getting a video camera and try sendind Dury boys Dream season or something you wouldn't have to give your hunting property location away and may even win or get to hunt out of state That is another Idea , think about next season setting up an do it yourself out of state hunt to Iowa , Illnois or OHIO I might even have a lead on some property in Iowa!!

I would much rather tag out in archery than being hopeful during firearm.

Ideally I'd like to have 1 during archery and then finish up during firearms.

Ive been in both situations and the years I kill early its still a good season but Ive also seen and could have shot bigger bucks than I already tagged. To me its deer season and I will enjoy every minute Im able to be out there.

I'd much rather be tagged out. Then I could be out fishing while the fall bites still on! ;D
