Heard a noise last night that makes me cringe, for those of us that actually spend time hunting and sitting in stand, blinds , and spot and stalking you will know what I mean. You spend the last 4 months of the year patterning, scouting, waiting, and watching. You check that camera religiously hoping the big boy will show his weary head. Hoping to catch a glimpse of him on an unsuspecting evening. Wondering if you would have went to the other stand, he might have appeared there. As darkness looms you stay in the stand a little longer or glass over the landscape in almost total darkness just thinking a white bobble in the moonlight is going to make you sleep better. Then it happens a bright light off in the distance a half hour after total darkness moving around in a space your mind has cataloged as something other then a good place for a light in the night, you hear a HPR crack.... a supersonic percussion wave smashes through the air. I have seen many great Bucks this year yet have been waiting for an opportunity at one in particular, I have seen him twice he is a moose in whitetails clothing and has gathered a lot of local attention. I only pray that he hasn't fallen prey to the impatience and the cross-hairs of that High Powered Rifle I heard last night.

I know how you feel 3 yr ago buk I had been seeing all summer in my hayfield and had watched grow for 2yr poached head an cape cut off and dumped on 250 4miles away by spotting poacher. same thing last year with 22in spread 8when big deer are found by spotters they are usually doomed to die and they dnr cant go chasing every one who shines a light out a car window but if it were illeagle ;D

jacklighting...it's Illegal in Illinois to even shine a light looking for deer after dark..That's what Indiana needs.Too many half-breed low lifes running around shooting deer after dark because they're incompentent hunters..

The GW's in my area stop everyone that shines a spot light. I know they stop me almost every year. Now I know two of the guy's they check the truck anyways. But they know how I am. So everything is cool. What I do is drive around the night before shine and if I see a buck I honk and spook them out of the field. Try to keep them from the poachers. I did have an experience last year where I was sitting in my stand around 5:30 (love to just be in the woods early) And I heard a shot and you can just tell it's in your direction. I first thought yot hunters but then saw the truck driving up the road. They actually shot at a deer in my field and right at me. Don't know if they connected or not. I don't have a cell phone. But later that morning had a buck dogging a doe in the field. So hope they didn't score. Although they score a lot where I hunt. I have one family that is notoriouse about it. They have been caught 3 times each last I heard. 3-4 brothers.... BB
