Last Saturday evening my wife and i had a serious one vehicle accident, i feel extremely lucky that we both lived through it. Although she has a broken left leg, and i have a shattered right hand, and several gashes in my head. The DR said the surgery on my hand went well and i should expect 80 85% motion recovery in 3 - 4 months. He also said odds are that i wont be able to bow hunt ever again. This will be the longest winter, not being able to hunt, and being off from work for 4 months while i make a recovery. I was lucky enough to shoot a doe the day before the accident.
I showed my son how to lower the poundage on my bow so he has one from now on. He has been shooting well enough that I'm going to let him hunt with it Sunday evening.
I cant wait to read about everyones success this hunting season!

Sorry to hear that... but glad that you all are still kicking.
I'd start working on that crossbow right away if you can swing it. It is still "bowhunting".

Bum deal there lug. As most have already said, we are all glad you are still with us. It sounds like it was a real heck of a crash and could have been worse. Help your son this season and maybe that will help you out on the hunting bug.

bummer lug! I know how you feel. I did a one and a half gainer down my front porch steps Friday night and luckily didn't break any thing but I sure am sore. I hit my back real hard on the top step when my feet flew out from under me and can hardly move my left arm. Looks like the rest of the bow season is a bust but hopefully I'll be healed up enough for gun season. h.h.

Like everybody else, I am sorry to hear this lugnutz! Prayers will be sent for you and your wife. Something tells me that your bowhunting days are NOT behind you forever. Hang in there and help your boy.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune Lug. I understand that this whole year from now on is lost. While I am not sure what the loss of 15 to 20% of your hand entails, no one that hasn't experienced it doesn't either. I too hope that come summer you get into crossbow. Or you might try to apply for the draw lock. Where you draw and lock a regular bow with your feet and arms both. I know of one person in Indiana that does have an exemption to use one. Another thing you might try is the release that has both a hand grip and wrist strap and a firearms type trigger. Do your therapy after surgery recovery is over. It will be painful.

Sorry about your accident. I hope you and your wife both have a full and complete recovery.Praise God that it was not worse for either of you. Do not believe what others will tell you that you can or can not do . Give it all during rehab and you will be amazed at what you will accomplish .

Wow. Things can happen in the blink of an eye...
It might be to early to tell about the bowhunting; but even if that is over, get a crossbow and have at it.
Keep us posted! You are in my prayers.
