Hey Folks..
Just wanted to post a photo of my "RAIN-DEER." I was hunting with a couple hunting buddies yesterday. It was NOT the most ideal conditions but since my hunting this year has been abbreviated do to my October surgery, I have had to HUNT WHEN I CAN!!
It was COLD..RAINY..FREEZING..and FOGGY and when we arrived at the parking area, we sat in the truck hoping the rain would either quit or subside enough for us to at least have a morning hunt..
After arriving at the stand, I had to knock about 1/2" of ice from the platform and I quickly attached my harness for security. I could still feel the soles of my boots slip occassionaly.
The first deer activity I saw was a small doe on the "other side of the creek." A few minutes later, I saw a couple more does on "our side" of the creek. I was encouraged with the sightings. Eventually, I had a group of does walk DIRECTLY under my stand and I am about to settle for a fat doe when I noticed this 9 pointer following them.
He is a main frame 8 pointer with a kicker point making him 9 total. A few folks THINK he might come close to the Indiana Record Book.. I will have him scored later. Right now, he looks good in the freezer.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS.. Bud

Hey turkeyscout..
As a matter of fact.. I starting taking the guys I was hunting with deer hunting when they were just kids. I normally have my son who is now 40 years old and my oldest grandson, who is 16 years old, hunting with me. Their schedules would NOT allow them to be there that particular day.
I am a HUGE advocate of youth involvement in outdoors activities. I spend alot of time writing articles in my outdoor column about getting the kids out there fishing, hunting and camping. I conduct numerous seminars for the organizations around the Kokomo area and I always stress.. PASSING THE TRADITION..
GOOD HUNTING and HAPPY HOLIDAYS.. Bud Fields
