I purchased a pair of Columbia wool bibs and parka last season. I wore it during a cold rain last season and as I sat there I noticed this stuff really got an odor to it as it got wet, basically like a wet dog. I hung it in my barn after pulling it out of the storage box this season but it still has a noticable odor to it. The tag says dry clean only. Won't taking it to a dry cleaner also add an odor? Any one else ever dealt with this.

I have the same parka and bibs and had them dry cleaned. I didn't notice any dry cleaning smell.
The only odors I have concern about controlling is Body Odor.

vectrix,
I personally would never enter the woods without doing everything that I could to eliminate any/all foreign odors. That includes body odors and any other odors that is not common to the area that you hunt.
I would try to get the smell out of the clothes by hand washing or dry cleaning them. If you hand wash them, use a detergent that is scent free. I would also recommend hanging them outside to dry instead of using a dryer.
If I couldn't get the smell out of the clothes, I would not use them for deer hunting.
Good luck!

When I have mine dry cleaned I ask them to use unscented soaps.

I wasnt sure if you could ask for scentless soap at a dry cleaner, never been to one. I always try my hardest to de-scent before a hunt and really like this columbia outfit but wow, might as well bring my hound in the tree with me. I guess my main question is, does wool always smell this way when it gets wet? If it does I am posting another thread titled Colubia wool bibs and parka for sale 1/2 price. Thanks for all of your input.

I have had a pair of Columbia wool for about 10 years. I have never cleaned them. When I am done hunting after a rain I shake them out and then hang them to dry. I use them for yote hunting and deer hunting and have never had a problem with being smelled. They were an excellent investment. I will be purchasing another outfit in the next couple years because these are about to be retired.

I love the outfit and pattern, they blend in well. I will have them dry cleaned one time to see if that fixes it, just hope it's not the nature of the wool.

Let me have them dry cleaned first to see if that fixes the problem. Not sure about exact size. Probably L / XL, I am 6' about 230 and they fit good with plenty of room, alittle long.

Mine smelled like that when new. What I do every year when I get them out and start wearing them is roll in the dirt..., I know it sounds funny but it is what I do. I don't think you will have a problem with the smell of them. Something else to try is let them hang on the clthes line and air out.
