Thought you might enjoy a few pictures of my latest project. A 17" McGowen 14 twist barrel finished by Match Grade Machine (MGM) in 458 BFG. Stainless steel, factory heavy/varmint contour, rebated crown, drilled and tapped for standard four hole scope mount. Starline 50 Alaskan brass trimmed an run through a Hornady 458 SOCOM dies makes rimmed 458 BFG brass. Alternatively, you can shoot standard 458 SOCOM loads as the headspace is identical in the BFG - just have to extract the cases with your fingernail or other implement due to the rebated case head.

Nice looking rifle. Is that a Indiana legal Deer gun / caliber? One day I think I would like to get into a wildcat caliber for hunting around here. What kind of external ballistics does it achieve?

Its DNR legal, or I wouldn't be doing it! Ballistics are the same as the 458 SOCOM, although there is nothing holding you back other than the brass in this platform (35k psi in the AR-15). I've never fired a factory loaded 458 SOCOM, but here's what the same length and twist barrel does on my bolt gun.
