I'm still rutting in my area. I chased what I thought was a hot doe last night, but she had a head ache. Oh well maybe tonight. I'm still laying down scrapes and rubs. With that said, really in my area what little activity I seen was the last week of bow season and the first of firearms. Try hanging a licking branch by the bedroom door. ;D ;D ;D

11/09-11/17 was by far the best time for us being in the woods. Orange County

Nov. 10 was the only day I could get out during that hot week of Nov. 5-11. The bucks were very active that morning tracking does... it probably would have been good all day, but I took the first decent buck that passed under my tree. Other than when I took my son on the youth hunt, that was the only day this year I've seen any bucks (other than spikes and forkies.)

I think a lot of people misunderstand what the peak of the rut is. The chasing stage is when bucks are most visible and a lot of hunters think thats the peak but it's not.
I saw excellent rutting activity from the last week of October uintil last weekend. The whole time would technically be "The rut".
I've taken off the second week of November for many many years and without fail the bucks are chasing and visible.

We had a very strange rut this year. Lots of scrapes and rubs early in October, then nothing it was like the deer disappeared. I did get a buck on the 16th of October but I think it was a fluke. Then the week of November 12th things went crazy all kinds of sign and deer movement all day long, I missed one all rutted up and Dad had a huge buck at 11:00 come by him but no shot. Since that week movement has dropped way off but it has gotten really cold. Would like to actually see it warm a little to help with our secondary rut. So I would say our peak was November 12-19.

saw three different instances of serious chasing by younger bucks, one in the first week of november and two in the week of opener. It was a funny rut, real strung out and spotty. Hopefully the big bucks will run a little this weekend, I think a few does totally got missed and a lot of yearlings will come in this year. Nothing like last year's intense rut that had mature bucks on their feet in daylight the first week of Nov.
