I had a cool hunt yesterday morning. It was so wet that you could probably step on a deer before it heard you. I got in the stand without spooking anything, and just after daylight I saw something come out of the pine trees off to my left. It was a red fox. The canine put on quite the show, walking back and forth in front of my stand, sniffing all around, right under the stand at one point. I screwed up and dropped my grunt call, which landed with hardly a sound, but the fox heard it! It didn't spook him though. I watched him for probably five minutes. It's the best look at a fox I've ever had.

Where I hunt I used to have a resident fox that I would see several times during the season. Now that the coyotes have moved in I haven't seen him. He was very entertaining to watch.

Land I hunt used to have chickens....used to have them being the key part there! I saw 5-6 foxes last year from different areas. Pretty sly little animals.
