I have a original {all number match] German Mauser circa 1941. Was wondering if any of you guys would have an idea of it's value.

I've looked around at them just enough to be dangerous - condition would matter but I'd say 3-400.

www.surplusrifle.com forums might be a good place to ask the question. I think with a little internet detective skills you could run down all the arsenal markings and that would give you a really good idea. Congratulations on your find. That is a great rifle! Oh, AIM surplus has Romanian 8mm on sale right now for pretty cheap if I recall correctly.

The short answere is $250-$1000. The long answer is that it depends on several factors: Are all the markings intact, including any Nazi symbols? Are all the parts present and in all original condition? Is it import marked.
The odds are it is what is termed a Russian capture model(meaning it was captured and refurbed by the Russian army during WWII) which would make it worth $250-$350 depending on condition and markings. To be safe you should have it appraised though.

It was captured by my Dad in Bastonge, maybe thinking of a rebarrel. Wonder if it can be chambered in anything PCR friendly?

If my dad brought this back from WWII, there's no way I'd alter it or sell it.

It isn't going anywhere so chill!! My Grandson already has dibs on it. I know he would want me to put it to good use if I could. Only wish i had more info on it and with he being gone now there is no way to get it. What info I could pry out of him after a few beers would have to be RRR rated and not fit to print on here. He was through Hell over there and never had much to say about it.

Saw one on Red Jacket last night. NON-matching #'s 98 brings no more than $500. Capture papers add $500 to $600! I would say matching #'s would add another $500.
The guy on the show last night had a non-matching #'s 98 in pieces with the capture papers in the box it was brought home in. He stated that it would be worth about $1100 assembled.

My father converted to Mauser 98's to sporters in the mid 50's. He gave me all of the old furniture, and they brought very good money on e-bay one piece at a time. It is crazy what people will pay hor a spring or a screw!
