Scored a doe this morning with the 30-06 Encore, about a 75yd shot. From the girth measurement she should go about 160lb. Sold a gun to Singleshooter and bought the Encore; TNX SS, you made it possible to for me to get my first handgun/hand cannon deer. I'll add a picture when someone gets back to take one.

Congratulations! It's interesting using a handgun, isn't it?
I should have used the Contender on Friday (had it with me), but opted for the shotgun since I didn't think I would have had a good enough rest for the T/C....

I agree rests are important when using them danf. I took a screw in step, taped the front bag from my rest to it and screwed it into a tree, it ended up working fine.

Congratulations, I think it takes a special kind of hunter to hunt with a pistol.

Congrats on the flathead and welcome to the single shot pistol club. I love hunting with my Encore. Unfortunately I broke my scope just prior to the hunting season. Having a rest is critical unless you want to hunt inside of bow range. I usually hunt from the ground with mine

I take it you were in a tree stand? The only time I used mine was while I was on the ground. I prefer to lean waaay back into a tree and use my knees for support. Depending on how big the deer is and what kind of angle they are to me, I feel comfortable with 50-75 yard shots if I'm not overly excited. When I shot the deer Friday, I was sitting on a log, back to a tree. Had I been on the ground with my back to the log, the T/C would have come out for sure.

Awesome shooting!! I have hunted with several handguns, but only shot at a deer one time...and missed!! Good job!

Well done. I can't hit an elephant in the butt with a handgun. For me, Anything within bow range would be easier to hit with a bow than with a pistol! Beyond that, forget it!
A true accomplishment.
