Deer around my place are few and far between..
I've hunted there 5 or 6 times since I got back from Alberta and have seen ZIP..
A friend taht hunted there on the opening weekend said the shots heard were few and far between too. This area used to be a war zone on opening weekend.
Not sure what has happened - EHD?

No. Indiana still counts the harvest the old fashioned way - one paper tag at a time. It will be mid - February at the earliest for any worthwhile numbers. KY and Illlinois both have telecheck with Illninos being able to input on a PC. They get quick numbers like that.

i saw nothing, i guess the landowners grandson and a bunch of his friends have been doing drives thru the woods and shooting anything that moves so my chances of a buck or another doe might be zero to none at this point.

Bonus anterless permits are taking a toll. Ive seen less and less deer for the last few years in places I normally see them. Ive not shot a deer yet and let several doe pass and plan on doing so until the last of muzzle loader season. h.h.

Im not sure about that HH. The number of hunters who reach their quota on does in their county is probly small. MOST hunters I know take 1-2 at he most. Im not saying you are wrong, Im just saying I dont think that is the main cause. Mix of several things 1-EHD 2-Low rainfall made deer migrate to areas that hold water all year 3- Temps are too high, slowing daytime movement

The deer didn't seem to want to move very much this morning, I saw one spike. Some of the bigger bucks may have does right now and not be very visible. Try it again tomorrow on a ridge that is usually hot this time of year. It hasn't been hunted all year.

Warrick just went to a 4 county this year. Last year we were a 2 county.
Most of the landowner/hunters around me are after mature bucks....maye a doe or two AFTER they bag their buck.

You got to remember it will vary by the part of the state you are from. I'm in the high pressure NE and let me tell you they are shooting a lot of does. We don't have EHD here and got plenty of rain. I'm seeing less deer each year in places I normally see a few. Lost habitat is another reason here. Most counties in my area are 3 bonus tags. h.h.

I took my dad out for a drive around the place i hunt after thanksgiving dinner this evening and seen 2 beautiful bucks not 20 yards from the road. One had already crossed, the other was still in the field on the other side. There was also a dink 4 point mixed in with them. They were with a group of about 5 doe. This is the place where i took my 8 point back on the 10th with my bow. Really excited to finally see some good bucks showing up out there.
