I didn't apply for a state park or military hunt this year. I am just wondering what everyone is seeing? Any good deer? Any good numbers? take anything? Problems with other hunters?

Yep. Monday. And with it being a $5 hit every day you go to scout, I've been doing pretty limited scouting.

I will be out Monday as well. I just hope that their is a level of respect and that all hunter will give each other ample room. Hunted Mt. Summit last year and with all prarie grass fields that grow their the hunter concentration was packed. 68 of 80 showed up on the first day, I thought 68 was still too much.

I was very impressed with Big Oaks, nov. 17-18 It turned out to be a great weekend to be there. Only 195 hunters on the entire refuge on that Sunday.

Went out to Ouabache State Park today, supposed to be 52 hunters and I think only about 20 people showed up, do to the rain. I only had one deer come within shooting distance, so I took a big 6 pointer.

Went out to Ouabache State Park today, supposed to be 52 hunters and I think only about 20 people showed up, do to the rain. I have participated in the State Park Reduction hunts since 2003 and it seems like there is always weak turn outs, even if it does not rain. The State really needs to look at this current program, in my opinion they could learn a lot from Big Oaks. If a drawn hunter does not show up they need a list of stand bys to choose from. Also, if you do not show up your name will show up red for future hunts. Just my thoughts.

Turnout at DSP seemed good. I don't have the numbers for this year, but there always seems to be an 80% or so turnout for early and 60% for late.
They took that into account and drew 120 for late instead of just 100 like they did for early.
From the vehicle count at the park, I'd say 80 is about right.

Im with ya shane if you dont show you are out the next year. I dont think it would be that hard to do with the computers today.
Saturday is the Summit reduction hunt alot of guys wanted in on that and i bet alot dont show up. Does not do much for reductions when no one shows.

Got a BB from Turkey Run today, man those are some steep gullies. They had around 30 deer checked yesterday, when I checked out at 1PM they had about 20 deer checked already. I will go back next year if drawn again.
Not sure how the turn out was. They did say it was sparce yesterday in the rain.

DSP was good for me, but not good in general. The average has been around 1 deer per showup for about 80 deer over the two days.
There were just under 40 deer killed this hunt, and I got 2 of them.
Odds are no DSP next year.
