On another forum, this question was brought up.
23 years ago I had my Muley hide made into gloves for my mom.
Last year I left the cull hide with the property owner.
This year I donated my Minnesota Buck hide to the Minnesota Deer Hunters Association "Hides for Habitiat" program.
I don't know what to do with any hides I get next week.
WHat do y'all doo?

I just spoke with the Minnesota Deer Hunters Association (an aparantly very large org). Their website is down between servers, but will be up again soon. What they tell me happens is that the local MNDHA chapters coordinate the collection of the hides, then salt them in someone's barn, then a truck from northamericanfly.com/ (Strum, WI) comes by to pick them up. That's a lot of hides!!!! The MNDHA gets $1.32 /kg for #1 and #2 raw Whitetail Deer skins & $.77 /kg for #3 & smalls. I guess there is a large export market for them.

Figure that each hide is around 3kg... and each of a few tens of thousands of hunters have hides to donate...
Can you imagine nearly a MILLION dollars to go to Indiana Habitat Development EVERY YEAR for the price of a few pounds of salt per hide?
I wish I had a barn....
