The thread on the Grandpa shooting his Grandson because he covered his blaze orange with a blanket got me thinking. For those of you using pop-up ground blinds, do you add blaze orange to the outside of the blind for safety? While I prefer sitting in tree stands, there are areas I hunt where only a pop-up blind works because there are no trees. If I'm hunting private land where there are no other hunters I feel pretty safe as we all know exactly where the others are hunting; however, if I was hunting public land I doubt I would EVER use a pop-up blind unless the whole thing was blaze camo (and I've never seen one of those for sale). Thoughts & experiences?

My dad is using a ground blind this year ...... I stressed to him the importance of taking an extra blaze orange sock hat and attaching it to the outside of the blind at the peak of the roof. It is visible from 360*.
IMO, a person would be nuts to sit in a blind without blaze attached to the outside .... even on private ground.

I am going to be taking my Son out this week and we will be hunting from a blind on private land. We will for sure have orange hanging in front of us from the blind and also a band of orange around a near by tree. I tend to get paranoid and over do it. I also wear orange when moving during turkey season.

10point, turkey season is often overlooked for safety orange. I do the exact same thing. A friend of my wife's dad was shot in the face by another turkey hunter. He was extraordinarily lucky that no pellets hit his eyes. You can still see where the pattern hit him.

When I hunted ground blinds the last 2 season I had Blaze Orange strips on all the corners of the blind. Paranoid is a good thing when it comes to Orange.

Most blinds have the velcro'ed left panels that expose reflective orange underneath... whether guys use them is anothe matter... gotta be visible 360 for sure...

I have ground blind that I have only used a couple of times. When I used it, I took my orange vest off and hung it on the blind. I figured it did more good on the blind than on me inside the blind. I also knew that one other person *might* be hunting from a tree stand in close proximity.
