Last night was the last straw. I hunt a property on the edge of Henry Co. and like most I enjoy gun hunting. The property was slamming when I bowhunted it a couple times last week. I seen an easy 160+ 10pt, I had him at 17 yds and didn't shoot because of a couple limbs and didn't want to wound him.
I have passed over a dozen deer, down there and yesterday evening, I get in the stand about 1pm for my first gun hunt of the year down there. I see someone at 230 walk down the grass lane that I am on, and I whistle to let him know my location and he turns around and goes to another spot on the other side of the property. At around 330pm I hear a shotgun blast then 4 more shots( Getting really at this) I can tell that whoever was shooting was shooting my direction because of the report. So I waiting and then hear a deer crash into my section of woods, then see 2 orange hats come through the sapling field. Then 4 more shots, so do the math, 9 SHOT in a span of 5-10 mins. Okay at this time I am PO. I get down and head over there direction. The guy shot a nice 2 1/2 10pt and made it swiss cheese, granted his first shot was well over 150yds and blew through the back leg of the buck. Well through small talk I knew that they are allowed on the property but and there was 4 of them, then they tell me there was 2 others in the woods. At this I am totally beside myself, One I am lucky I didn't get shot(Just spent 7 months in Iraq and this is would have really been Ironic)
Should I be upset at the landowner for letting so many people on the land?
I am going to call him and just ask if he knows he has that many people on his ground.
After last night, I have chose to go against everything I have said about it but lease some ground where I and only select people can get on there and mang not only the deer but them selves.
Sorry about venting but gun season does this sometimes. haha
