Well, it was a rough start to the day! Attempted to leave the firehouse early and locked my keys in the truck. Luckily, I work at a firehouse with lock-out tools. Got started a little late to our hunting area. Upon arriving at the property, moved quickly to my stand and climbed up my tree, only to have my slip knot on my shotgun...slip. Don't worry, I never climb or raise a loaded gun. Anyway, after climbing down and retying my gun and pack, and climbing back up, things started looking up. The property owner, and a great friend, was hunting with me across the field and text me that I had a 4 pt. headed my way. We both passed and saw 2 more small bucks. Things kinda cooled off and we only heard a handfull of shots this morning. I began using my grunt call and the property owner text me saying, "I think you are doing it wrong-hehe". After 3 sets of grunts, here he came. He stayed about 20 yards off the woodline and was headed to my stand with a purpose. He crossed me broadside at about 15 yards! Dropped him where he stood. I am pumped! He is my first deer worthy of a spot on my wall. Hope everyone had a great day like mine----One shot One kill! ;D

beautiful deer, congrats. Using electronic communication for the purpose of harvesting deer is illegal, not sure that you crossed that line, but be very careful. congrats again

Thanks dreamweaver. I had no idea it could be construde as even remotely illegal. I really didn't think of it as using electronic communication as much as passing the time on a cold morning. I pride myself on being an ethical hunter and if anyone could view this as illegal, I can say it will never happen again. By the way, my hunting partner never saw this deer prior to my shot. It entered from the opposite end of the field. Thanks for the info though.

Cool deer and good pics too. I confess to wondering where in the heck the time has gone when I read that people are texting each other in a tree stand. Technology has sure come a long way. That was Star trek stuff when I was starting out. A young boy was telling me about his first deer the other day. He said, "I was checking my voicemail when I looked up and there she was...." How times have changed. But It's legal, and I don't think there is a thing wrong with it. But I digress. Beautiful buck, be proud.

Congrats Mark it looks alot bigger than it did on the cell phone. Two way radios are not illegal some folks just try to find the negative in everything and dont know what they are talking about.
