Strangely I received this last week: Dear Mr. Corpuz, Thank you for taking the time to contact the office of Governor Mitch Daniels. He has shared your e-mail with me and asked that I respond on his behalf. I appreciate the opportunity to address your concerns. The Indiana Department of Natural Resources intends to actively participate in the Newport Chemical Depot base closure proceedings. It is our intention to attempt to acquire a portion of the property for use as a possible fish & wildlife area. As a first step in the process DNR staff members attended a meeting hosted by the Base Realignment and Closure Commission in late January to help us gain a better understanding of the updated closure process. We are continuing to work with the Commission in hopes something can be worked out. Again, thank you for writing, and thank you for your active citizenship. Sincerely, Shelley Reeves Governor’s Liaison for the Department of Natural Resources I think I wrote to the governor sometime in April so they don't appear to be in a real big hurry. Anyone else get an email from the Governor's rep? We had this mass mailing on this subject back in JANUARY.huntingindiana.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=deerhunting&action=display&thread=23787&page=1. i received the exact same reply (IIRC), from the Governors office several weeks ago.
