Isn't it kind of late for toms to be gobbling and strutting? I am not much of a turkey hunter, but I heard one gobbling like crazy yesterday. I got an old call out and hid behind the pool fence and started calling. He came out of the woods got within 30 yards of me. Everytime I would call, he would strut and gobble. I left him alone and went back inside. For the next 2 1/2 hours he was walking from one side of the field to the other looking all over for the hen he was talking to. Today, I shut a car door and he sounded off in the valley. He looked like a big bird with a nice beard.

It's like the whitetail rut, or anything else in nature, seems to be a trickel effect and some confused critters each year. I saw a strutter Friday morning on my way to work and thought it was odd.
My predator calling DVD will contain a scene where gobblers answer my howls repeatedly: then answer the report of a rifle once a coyote shows up: this was filmed in Jackson County in January.

I'm pretty sure turkeys will breed through may and into June. It's really not that uncommon.

They gobble year round at various points, just part of a tom's life. One fall morning I heard more gobbling then I did any day this spring and another winter afternoon I heard 100+ gobbles just nature. They gobble year round. Plus I have found turkey's on nests on in mid-July.....they gobble year round!

They gobble year round...They gobble year round.....they gobble year round! So... do you think they gobble year round? If each Tom was motivated to gobble throughout the spring/summer/fall/winter then we'd sure hear a helluva lot of gobbling. As a hunter who spends more time in the field than most, I've only heard gobbles in November on one occasion and January on another occasion. I've heard plenty of February-June gobbling over the years. Taking into account the number of mornings I've watched the sunrise in the woods between September & February, and considering the abundance of male turkeys in the properties I hunt, I'm going to stick my neck out and say it's RARE for turkeys to gobble in the fall/winter months. RARE. RARE. RARE. My brother snapped this picture on Thrusday.

Nice picture. They gobble year round, LOL. There is one farm I go to that more often then not they gobble their are peacocks at the farm house and that helps even in the fall and winter.

Did you do any fishing and did you do any good?

I always enjoyed camping there when I was a kid. It was always nice to go fishing while Mom and Dad were getting lunch or dinner ready. Did you do any fishing and did you do any good? We just caught a few little bass. The whole lake (dogwood) was covered in weeds and moss so we didn't do any serious fishing. We did check out the fish hatchery, that was pretty cool.

I enjoyed watching that.
Old Tom must have thought," Wow, a hen driving her own truck!"

Was driving around Monday morning, June 22, and saw about a dozen hens and one long beard that was strutting like it was april. For the locals, it was off Hunsaker Rd in Browns field.

Yeah , I have seen birds strutting in November from my tree stand. I guess the male is always ready ,also strutting is a dominance thing , done for the other males to show who's the top bird.
