I'm heading there in July for 2 days. Will be my first ever trip on Lake Erie. Fished Lake Michigan many times for salmon but wanted to try something different this time around. I hope the fish and weather are cooperating when we go.

Are you going for walleye or smallmouth? The captain said this year has been a little down most of the guys we have chatered with have taken us out till we got our limit or for about five hours this guy was really good kept moving us when we werent getting hits and kept us out 11 hours same price as everyone else too

Were going after walleye. I have seen the reports as of late, the captain we booked with told me as of late the fishing has been slow as well. Hopefully things pick up in a few weeks. From looking at various boards they say the water temps are still unseasonably cold and that the walleye may be eating the mayflys (sp?) that just hatched, which could be why they aint in a hurry to bite.

Yeah they said the early season storms really hurt them to if you can have your captain take yoiu to canada I know they were biting pretty well there I know this we caught 11 another boat only caught two but they were both 30 inchers so they are still getting some bigones

Heck of a trip right there Gas Can. What marina did you guys go out of? The slow reports of late had me a little worried. Sounds like it is picking back up though. I leave Sunday to head up there, Port Clinton area.

We stayed in Port Clinton but fished out of Lorain because the reports were better to the east. Hotwater is where we launched. About an hour from Port Clinton. We were going to try some Perch fishing out of Clinton on the last day, but it was a little rough out there so we came on back

Just got back from my trip on Erie the last 2 days. Monday was the better day of the 2. 3 of us got 45 pounds of fish. Today we managed 25 pounds, the conditions were not great with strong north winds and 2-4 foot waves. Got plenty of nice fillets though.
